If you have ever wished for a dog that is everything you have dreamed of, look no further than this beautiful rare breed of dog called the Northern Inuit (NI).This placid, fun loving, very affectionate and thought provoking best friend will not disappoint you.
With a Northern Inuit, it's virtually imposible to go out for a quick walk as there will always be someone wanting to know more about these magnificent dogs. Oh! They'll try and guess the breed, "Husky or Malamute or a wolf hybrid maybe?" Then, usually, follows the story of the Northern Inuit and its history. We hope you will enjoy this site, read up more and let you decide if this is the breed for you.
These are certainly 'pack' dogs they prefer to be in the company of others rather than left alone which, like most dogs, will cause a lot of distress which can lead to them causing destruction in your home. Permanent companionship of his owner or of another dog is probably the best way to deal with this. It has to be known, most NI owners tend never to just have one
dog, they are an addiction and it's hard to stop at 2 even!
One unique thing you can do is to let a pack of Northern Inuit's run free, there will be lots of baring of teeth and howling but never a cross word amongst them. It's quite an amazing sight as some of the pictures we have included will show.
There are many adjectives to describe the Northern Inuit some being obedient, inquisitive, intelligent, affectionate dogs with a cute nose for that acute sense of smell; in all, they demonstrate their talents and versatility in P.A.T dogs, Search & Rescue, with potential to becoming Assistance Dogs for the Disabled, Dogs for the Blind, etc Many NI owners have claimed KC Good Citizen Scheme with Bronze, Silver & Gold.
Their willingness to please their owner is usually the only reward these dogs wish for however, they are very strong willed and need to be socialised within weeks of birth which, we at 'Laurian' pride ourselves, keeping them mentally stimulated inside a family and home environment. In always being the Alpha, as you would with any dog, you will find yourself rewarded with abundance.
There are many NI shows/events/fun days up and down the UK for everyone to participate in and also lots of support and advice on this and other internet sites. It's hard to be sure who enjoys it the most, owner or dog. There are also other county/companion shows up and down the country.
Be prepared if visiting us,for a friendly welcome by way of an inquisitive nose prod or better still if your tall enough they like to give you a piggyback, intent on getting your full attention for a fuss and giving you a greeting like a long lost friend.
In the meantime we welcome to our site, please enjoy it and feel free to contact us if you have any questions....
